Saving the savior, part 2.

A troubled past.

As Viktor was freeing the rest of the heroes in the dungeon were he had been kept in himself, he thought of horrible life this young hero had had.
The chairman was born under the name John Franklin, but in an age of 5 they had died in a car crash. After their death John was raised by some of the family’s friends, but he was never considered a gull member of the family.
John had discovered his power at the age of 15, where he slowly began to realize that he had the ability to summon, or reproduce or what you chose to call it, any chair he had ever laid eyes on. It was like he ripped a whole in reality, pulling the chair from a different dimension. It took some time for john to realize the usefulness of his power, but at the age of 18 he started a store that sold famous chairs at ridiculously low prices. The store was closed down by the police after almost a year in business. Busted for selling copies of famous chairs and barely avoiding prison, his future in the furniture business was ruined. As he reached 20 he had turned into a bar brawler. He would enter a bar, get drunk and then pick a fight.
John was one hell of a brawler, no trick was too dirty for him, he never actually killed someone, but his fighting put more than one person in the hospital. It also got him banned from most bars downtown, so instead he started going to bars at the outskirts of the city. But where he had hoped to find new brawlers, he gained something much better, a group of good friends.
He had met them one of the first nights and had just sort of stayed with them ever since. Where there had been a feared brawler before, there was now a changed man. He was now just a happy bloke hanging out with a couple of friends, he even managed to find a girlfriend. Her name was Jennie and she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. She had long red hair, pure white skin and she was always so happy and cheerful. They spend almost 2 years together before disaster once again struck the young man.
In the dead of night on her way home from a visit to Johns place, she was attacked by four guys. They ripped off her clothe and raped her in that dark alleyway, she was found by a pedestrian the next morning and was brought to the hospital. She had sustained no serious psychical damage, but the psychic damage was enormous. She became frightened of everything, and started to build a shell around herself, trying to cut herself off from the outside world. She even stopped contacting John, and that was when he realized what he could use his powers for.
In his brawler days he had used chairs as weapons with deadly efficiency, and now he started experimenting with his powers. He soon realized that his powers were unique; Fire-elements, demons and shape shifters were 13 a dozen now a days. But he had never heard of anyone actually being able to created physical objects out of thin air, nor could he find any records of previous sighting of any such power. John made himself a hero costume and started to hunt criminals, He only went for small timers, deciding that he needed to train much more before he could take on more than the random thugs. For 3 years he lived a double life, he was John Franklin with his friends and family, but some nights he would put on his Purple costume and his Chair shaped helmet, going out to fight evil.
But John realized that if he wanted to continue his work, he would have to enter S.U.P.E.R.
The laws stated that any superhero not a member of S.U.P.E.R. was to be considered as a criminal. Taking the law into your own hands was considered a crime after all. Being a member of S.U.P.E.R. also gave you other advantages like the fact that the government would help you hide your true identity.
Some people would have dropped out of the superhero business after a denial from S.U.P.E.R. but John aka. The Chair-man did no such thing. He kept fighting criminals and made himself a lot of enemies that way. All went well that way, he continue to hang out with his friends when he was not busy beating up bad guys. The government called him a criminal and but a bounty on information about his true identity, but no one ever realized that the friendly John was in fact a fierce anti hero. But one night he was recognized by one of the criminals, for that criminal had tasted John’s fists before, when he had been brawling downtown. This low life criminal went to the police and claimed the bounty. The next day it was all over the news that John Franklin was the wanted rogue hero, and that news show completely destroyed his life.
He tried to contact his friends, he wanted to explain, wanted to tell them that he wasn’t a bad guy. But they were gone; one of them had left a little note saying that they had gone into hiding and never wanted to see him again. Even Jennie had disappeared leaving behind nothing but an empty space in John’s heart.
After Jennie left John Franklin died, he left the name and became the chair-man 24/7, and he hid in an empty apartment at day and fought criminals at night. He lost any connection with reality becoming more and more violent, but his world truly fell apart that night he found her body.
He found Jennie’s body in a bar owned by the criminal mastermind Maximilian. Jennie had been tortured for hours, confessed one of the criminals at the scene, but she never gave in to the torture, she never told them where he was hiding. As he heard that he lost control, when he came to his senses again he had killed them all.
A story like that would easily make front page any other day than this day. “Rogue hero runs amok!” it would have said, but not this day, because this day a far bigger story saw the light of day.
Every single hero in the western world disappeared in under an hour; of course officially it never happened, but the chair-man knew better. Every single member of S.U.P.E.R. gone, something was wrong and it all smelled of Maximilian.
Maximilian was considered the last great treat in this world, he was the mastermind behind all organized crime in the western world. He had started his criminal life at the age of 14 where he had successfully planned and executed the robbing of a bank, thereby becoming the youngest person ever to do so. As he got older his criminal endeavors became more and more expansive, and Maximilian himself became shrouded in mystery. His whereabouts was unknown, and rumors started to spread that he wanted to conquer and rule the world. It was also rumored that his agents had infiltrated the US government, the Russian government and even NATO. A few people even believed that he had spies in S.U.P.E.R. and John was starting to believe that it had been true.
S.U.P.E.R. was the only organization in the world that had the names and addresses of every single superhero in existence, in short every member of S.U.P.E.R.
Only one hero was not taken by Maximilian, the chair-man. Why? Because he was the only hero whose whereabouts S.U.P.E.R. didn’t know of.

Chair-man was once again sprinting along an empty corridor, his blood pumping in his veins, his mind racing with the same question as it had done a week ago, the day the absence of the hero went public. He had quickly realized that it must have been S.U.P.E.R.’s data that had led to the capture of so many heroes at once. And since S.U.P.E.R. was about to launch a giant strike against the newly discovered hideout of Maximilian there was no doubt of whom the mind behind the strike was. But the real question remained: who the hell was the traitor?
The chair-man kept running not knowing that the answer was waiting just around the next corner.
